Mangos are one of my all-time favorite fruits and when mango and spinach are combined in a smoothie, the bodys ability to absorb their antioxidants, particularly lutein and xanthein, TRIPLES!
This is good news since together these nutrients reduce the risk of cataracts by 72 percent and lower the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by 67 percent.
Hows that for a smart smoothie breakfast?
Makes 2 Servings:
BLEND:
- 2 cups fresh spinach, washed
- 1 banana, frozen (I cut mine into chunks before I freeze them)
- 1 cup peeled and chopped mango
- 6 natural almonds
- 1 cup fat free soy or rice milk
- 1 cup fat free vanilla yogurt
Combine everything in a blender (I recommend Vita-mix) and blend til smooth.
In case youre worried about the bitterness of the spinach, you wont even notice it since the delicious, sweet mango and ripe banana are the most powerful flavors in this drink.

This recipe is interesting.
Wondering if you can use skim or 1% milk instead of the soy or rice

Create an account and they have a tool that will allow you to calculate the calories/fat/nutrition in your recipes. Its a great resource.

Wow. never knew or read about such a combination really interesting and so healthy.
Pretty bland nothing interesting about it. I think it needs some acid orange or lime maybe?
Hi Lesli, I just found yr site looking for green drinks, and read your story. Yes ur an inspiration, its amazing how what we think are our big problems shrink when we hear what other people have gone through. You are beautiful inside and out. God Bless, and keep up the good work. ps still rving thought of doing that myself {my fears} have kept me from it. All the best Claude
I just found this recipe from a google search for mango spinach smoothie. I would recommend this smoothie to anyone who loves delicious food.
I have a long list of green smoothies, but none of them require mangoes and I needed to use some mangoes that were starting to get long in the tooth. Now Ive added this dream smoothie to my list. (I used 1% organic milk, BTW.) Cheers!
